Winning Services wins Best Sustainable Supply Chain Initiative at NORA Solutions Partner Awards Title image

Winning Services, the logistics arm of leading Australian retail entity Winning Group, was awarded Best Sustainable Supply Chain Initiative, at the prestigious NORA Solutions Partner Awards.

The NORA Solutions Partner Awards celebrate excellence and innovation within the retail industry, and Winning Services' free removal and recycling of appliances, mattresses and product packaging was acknowledged as Best Sustainable Supply Chain Initiative in the 2023 awards.

Harry Boileau, General Manager, Winning Services explained, "We are delighted to receive the Best Sustainable Supply Chain Initiative award from NORA. This recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to providing legendary care for our customers of Appliances Online, Winning Appliances, Andoo and Home Clearance and our third party logistics partners. It also demonstrates the Winning Group’s mission, which has sustainability at its core, to provide the best experiences in the world, for the world - for our customers, our team, communities and the planet”.

Alice Kuepper, Head of Sustainable Business and CSR said, “Since 2005, Winning Services has provided a free removal and recycling program of appliances and in the last 12 months, we expanded this program to include the take-back and recycling of customer’s old mattresses and product packaging, which is also available to our third-party logistics partners, across Australia and New Zealand.

“Over a 12 month timeframe, Winning Services helps customers recycle approximately 12,000 tonnes of scrap metal and divert over 2000 tonnes of packaging waste from landfill achieving an annual average of 80% landfill diversion for packaging waste. To facilitate the recycling of mattresses, Winning Services works where possible with social enterprises such as Soft Landing who deconstruct mattresses manually and are able to achieve a 75% diversion from landfill turning them into roof sheeting, carpet underlay and more. Winning Services’ product packaging recycling scheme captures cardboard, expanded polystyrene (EPS) and soft plastics that come with the packaging from supply partners. Winning Services has invested heavily in dedicated staff and sorting areas at all distribution centres to help prevent problematic EPS, cardboard and soft plastic from going into landfill.

“While we are proud of our achievements and believe we can create meaningful impact within our ecosystem and industry, we acknowledge that we are only at the start of our sustainability journey. We are committed to continuing to innovate new solutions and to influence changes in our industry, and customer behaviours, by creating awareness on social and environmental issues”, said Mrs Kuepper.
